You can help Fiji in a variety of ways.
- Donation or Grant
- Medical Supply or Equipment Donation
- Clinic and Project Participation
Because our goals are quite ambitious, The Savusavu Community Foundation welcomes contributions and grants. All donations go directly and exclusively to fund the Foundation’s efforts; no donated monies are used for administration or other overhead.
Each eye clinics costs over $75,000, including international and domestic airfares and accommodations for the medical team, plus supplies. Dental and other medical clinics cost $15-25,000. Shipping each container of medical equipment and supplies costs $12-15,000. Clearly financial donations help us to continue to provide the clinics on a regular basis and at the quality the Fijians deserve.
We’re always on the look-out for new and used medical equipment, ranging from hospital beds to ultra sound equipment. Simple things like boxes of new toothbrushes are in great demand. Used eye glasses (e.g., prescription, reading or sun) are great donations – many church and school groups are doing collections for us.
For schools, we’re seeking donations of books and laptop computers.
There are other ways to help. We are always looking for:
- Doctors and Surgeons and Nurses in various specialties
- Dentists and Oral Surgeons
- Optometrists and Ophthalmologists
- Clean Water System Experts, Construction Experts and Contractors
We are constantly planning clinics and construction projects. If you are making a trip to Fiji and would like to help during your trip, we would appreciate it.
The Savusavu Community Foundation welcomes outside support, donations, and grants, which go in entirety to the Foundation. No salaries are paid to anyone and virtually all expenses are covered by donors. Because the Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization in the U.S., all donations are tax-deductible for Americans. (Tax ID# is 20-1038213.) Residents of other countries should consult their tax advisers. Because of the generous support from so many people and organizations, all assistance is provided absolutely free of charge to all beneficiaries.
