Village Community Halls & Kitchens
We believe that community halls are the cornerstone of Fijian life and culture. The halls are used for village meetings, celebrations, student studyhalls, as cyclone evacuation centers and much more. SCF has built dozens of halls for various villages, as well as renovating and expanding many more.
Kitchens are also very important, as previously all cooking was done outside, having to fight the sun, heat, rain, winds and mud. So SCF has built dozens of kitchens to assist villages, resulting in far more sanitary and comfortable cooking conditions, as well as providing opportunities for the women to provide catering services and sell their village specialties to raise money and improve their standard of living.
Bridge Building
Excessive rains, flooding and cyclones often cause bridge collapses in Fiji. So SCF has stepped in to help replace them with more sturdy and long-lasting structures.
In addition streams separate many villages, often with their school on one side and homes on the other. SCF is building bridges to prevent injuries when children and adults attempt stream crossings.
Sports, Club and Community Events
SCF helped co-sponsor Camp Glow, a tremendously successful young girls empowerment event, as well as contributing uniforms, shoes and sports balls to various sports leagues, and sponsoring numerous community events. SCF has made hundreds of donations to local clubs, charities and youth sports leagues.
Quarantine Support
During covid protocols, Fiji has had to place many families on full quarantine. SCF has provided and distributed more than 40,000 meals to these home-bound Fijians.
